| 2023 | ISH 2023 - World's leading trade fair for HVAC + Water | |
| 13. Mar - 17. Mar |
The world’s leading trade fair for HVAC + Water invites you to Frankfurt am Main again from 13 to 17 March 2023. After a long time, we are particularly looking forward to meeting you in person in our exhibition halls. No other show is as sharply focused on forward-looking subjects such as the conservation of resources and the use of renewable energies. At the same time, ISH is the foremost showcase for sanitary installations, intelligent living and innovative building solutions.

| 2023 | ETG Congress | |
| 25. May - 26. May |
"Accelerating the energy transition" - this is the central topic of this year's ETG Congress on 25/26 May 2023 in Kassel, Germany. The aim is to critically discuss the current status of the energy transition and, above all, ways and means of accelerating it. The DBFZ will also be contributing a Lecture entitled "A 2-stage optimisation approach to ensure security of supply in rural cellular energy structures with solid biomass-based (hybrid) system" (25.5.2023, 17:20, Session on sector coupling and electromobility).

| 2023 | 6th Nuremberg Workshop - “Methanation and 2nd Generation fuels” | |
| 01. Jun - 02. Jun |
The 6th Nuremberg Workshop on "Methanation and 2nd Generation Fuels" will take place at FAU in Nuremberg on 1-2 June. Top researchers, companies and research groups will be giving talks and discussing the production, research and development of renewable and synthetic gases live on site at the Energy Campus in Nuremberg. The DBFZ is represented with a lecture by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Daniela Thrän on the topic of "Carbon neutral, yes or not - the CO2 balance of biomass as carbon source for Green fuels".

| 2023 | 24th International Conference on Process Control | |
| 06. Jun - 09. Jun |
The DBFZ is participating in the 24th International Conference on Process Control with a presentation on "Observability and Identifiability Analyses of Process Models for Agricultural Anaerobic Digestion Plants" (speaker: Simon Hellmann). The objective of the conference is to bring together theory experts and control systems practitioners, to evaluate the new avenues for techniques, design procedures and instruments in process control. The conference will feature plenary and keynotes lectures, standard parallel sessions, a poster session, a dedicated workshop, and a rich social program. Contributions are invited to range from theoretically rigorous research works to industrial applications.

| 2023 | International Expert Workshop "Ten times more renewable fuels" | |
| 24. Oct - 24. Oct |
Worldwide, the demand for renewable fuels for sustainable mobility is increasing enormously. In the last 20 years, the production of renewable fuels could be increased to about 4 EJ. According to the scenarios of IRENA and the IEA, this figure will have to be around 32 to 58 EJ by 2050, i.e. on average ten times the current production. Experts from the IEA Bioenergy TCP Task 39 and the IEA AMF as well as representatives from Germany will present their views at an international expert workshop "Ten times more renewable fuels" and invite participants to a joint discussion. The event will be held in English at the DBFZ in Leipzig on 24.10.2023, 12 to 19 hrs. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to visit the pilot plant being built at the DBFZ as part of the project "Pilot SBG | Bioresources and Hydrogen to Methane as Fuel".

| 2023 | FAIRagro Workshop on Data Quality for Data Analytics in Agrosystem Science | |
| 06. Dec - 07. Dec |
In the domain of agricultural systems, the fusion of mobile sensing, machine learning, and plant phenotyping unlocks far-reaching opportunities for sustainable crop production. With the aim of exploiting these potentials in the best possible way, a quality-assured research data management (RDM) for generating, publishing, and accessing research data is currently being developed in the initiative of FAIRagro. To make such a data infrastructure usable across different disciplines, it is crucial to identify data aggregation, processing, and quality levels that are optimal for multi-modal data analytics. The workshop aims to exploit synergies and bring together knowledge from different expert domains in order to identify commonalities and establish shared guidelines. Notably, such guidelines can help contributors resolve ambiguities with respect to data standards required for sharing their data. Within two half days, from December 6-7, 2023, at the University of Bonn, the workshop will provide its participants the opportunity to give short presentations of recent and on-going research. Of interest in these presentations is a focus on (1) data collected in the agrosystem domain and its necessary (spatial and temporal) characteristics and quality standards, (2) data processing as an intermediate step between data acquisition and further use (e.g., in data analysis and machine learning).
