Field of work
Simon Hellmann studied mechanical engineering at the Technical Universities of Berlin and Munich. During his master’s, he majored in control and process engineering. His master’s thesis was on the topic of „Investigation of the Dynamics and Control of Power-to-X Processes”. Since 2021 he has been working as a research associate (PhD student) on process automation of large-scale biogas plants at the Deutsches Biomasseforschungszentrum (DBFZ). He develops model-based state observers and robust-adaptive control algorithms for demand-oriented operation of biogas plants. For this purpose, he investigates available model theories with respect to their applicability for control during regular plant operation. Mr. Hellmann is part of the junior research group on simulation, monitoring and control of anaerobic digestion processes at DBFZ.
