flexible feeding is the basic prerequisite for biogas stock plants to achieve maximum flexibility, but has so far met with considerable reservations in practice. In the presentation "Opportunities and results of model-based process control", the results of experiments at the research biogas plant of the German Biomass Research Centre will be shown, in which both feeding times and quantities as well as power generation blocks on the current EPEX spot market were optimised and implemented in practice using software developed in-house. The additional direct marketing revenues achieved in this process are close to the optimum, which underlines the enormous potential of this type of plant operation.

This presentation is part of the upcoming Leipzig biogas expert discussion on "Biogas on the move - opportunities and challenges of flexible feeding", which will take place as an online event on 3 December 2020. Increasing the efficiency and flexibility of biogas plants is a central task in upgrading and adapting these plants to the requirements of a future energy system based on renewable energies. In this context, the objectives and contents of the GAZELLE project range from method development, technical testing and validation, the influence of flexibilisation on the requirements for the technical components of biogas plants to the economic and energetic evaluation of flexibilisation. The speakers of the biogas expert talk will present the project and its contents. Further informationen
