Exhaust gas purification unit for zero-emission biomass stoves
Aim of the project is to develop and test a prototype of a retrofit device for biomass stoves and boilers which simultaneously allows exhaust gas purification and heat recovery. It is intended to be used on exisiting or new installed biomass furnaces of any kind in the power range up to 50 kW. The prototype should explore more efficiently the heat from biomass while comply with the limits for particulate matter (PM), CO and hydrocarbons. A virtually emission-free operation of the biomass furnace is thereby attempted, which means that the exhaust gas consists mainly of CO2, O2 and H2O.
The solution is focused on three different objectives and therefore, the retrofit device combines three different elements for exhaust gas treatment:
1. Filtration
2. Catalyst
3. Heat recovery system
