    • expansion of the range of raw materials through the use of biogenic residues and by-products as well as disposable wastes
    • development of innovative plant components (e.g. hydrothermal process stages, methane synthesis)
  • provision of renewable methane as a fuel for the transport sector

  • data on raw material potentials available in the DBFZ resource database:
  • development of a substrate database (material properties, composition and potential gas yield of selected raw materials)

Support of the circular economy

  • mobilisation of unused materials for high-quality products
  • regional distribution and value of selected raw materials from agriculture and municipal waste management in terms of nutrient cycles and disposal problems

Biomethane fuel as a key component of climate change in transport

  • activation of residues and wastes for the biomethane production in the range of 100 petajoules possible,
  • conversion of carbon dioxide from the biogas production with electrolytically produced hydrogen from renewable electricity to methane,
  • theoretical potential of greenhouse gas reduction of around 20 million tonnes per year
