Advanced renewable methane in Germany:

Accompaniment and support through successful piloting and knowledge transfer

Until 2023:

Conception and realization of a pilot plant for the production of renewable methane as a fuel for the transport sector

Creation of a feasibility study for the preparation of the demonstration scale

  • Preliminary tests both as batch and as continuous laboratory-scale tests to narrow down optimal process parameters
  • Specific preliminary tests for the process steps in preparation for the commissioning of the pilot plant

  • Planning, manufacturing and commissioning of the pilot plant to demonstrate the process chain

  • Evaluation of the resource potential for agricultural by-products (straw and cattle manure) as well as urban residues and by-products (biowaste and green waste) in Germany and specifically the mobilizability in the example region Leipzig/Halle/Dessau
  • Accompanying analyses of the general conditions for renewable methane as a fuel in transport, especially with regard to market and location aspects
