Subproject 1:

• Development of a homogeneous, storable fuel based on pre-dewatered sewage sludge
• Optimization of emissions as well as storage and handling properties through the use of blending agents and targeted addition of minerals

Subproject 2:

• Burner development for clean, efficient and complete combustion
• Considerations regarding the recovery of phosphorus from the ash
• Utilization of waste heat for the pre-drying of sewage sludge and for its integration into the actual purification and treatment process

biogeniV - bV-B1 Residual material drying – Analysis of processes for processing biogenic residual materials for further thermochemical use

• Identification and testing of innovative and energy-efficient processing technologies for dewatering, drying and densification of fermentation residues and other biogenic residues, as well as identification of coupling possibilities, e.g. through waste heat utilisation for thermal drying
• Assessment of the economic and ecological feasibility of waste treatment, taking into account the coupling of energy and material flows
• Design of a previously non-existent model plant for residue processing
• Transfer of the results to establish the entire value chain in the Anklamer EnergieRegio

• Implementation of the most extensive possible revitalisation of drained peatlands and optimisation of water levels in already revitalised peatlands in the Malchin region
• Demonstration of an economical, residue-free processing method for the industrial-scale utilisation of peat biomass in the Malchin region
• Holistic verification of the economic viability and positive climate impact of the use of wet moors, taking into account social aspects in the Malchin region
• Establishment and strengthening of networks through target group-specific communication and knowledge transfer, also based on interactive and digital tools in the Malchin region and at the state level

• Use of biogenic carbon in the biogas process and for gas purification as an alternative to fossil activated carbon
• Processing of biogenic carbon and iron(III) hydroxide into composite compacts
• Dealing with regulatory issues relating to the distribution of composite compacts
• Economic analysis to assess production costs and develop a business model
• Ecological assessment with regard to GHG reduction potential in the biogas sector
