![]() Pilot-SBG - Bioresources and hydrogen to methane as fuel Duration: Financed by: BMDV | The research and demonstration project Pilot-SBG aims to investigate advanced renewable methane as a fuel for transport sectors that are difficult to electrify. The innovative process approach is intended to increase the methane yield from the central biogas process, among other things by utilising the biogenic CO2 with green hydrogen through catalytic methanation. In the first half of the project, a pilot plant was set up and associated preliminary technical experiments as well as a feasibility analysis were carried out. In the second half of the project, the technological focus lies on successful piloting, reproducible routine operation and process optimisation on the one hand and on module- and interface-specific test series on the other hand. Based on the modelling and scaling of the experimental results as well as an extension of the balance boundaries to the entire supply chain, cost and revenue structures will be considered in addition to the ecological assessment. ![]() Renewable Fuels from Green Refineries of the Future Duration: Funded by: BMDV | The project REF4FU aims to develop, validate and evaluate sustainable refinery concepts to meet the future demand for renewable liquid fuels. Based on renewable methanol, Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbons and pyrolysis oils, the fuel options required today and in the near future are to be produced and tested with scalable technologies and evaluated economically and ecologically. Furthermore, in the context of the current regulatory framework, an implementation plan will be developed based on an analysis of strengths and weaknesses. InnoFuels - Networking, further development and framework conditions for the ramp-up of electricity-based fuels and advanced biofuels Duration: Funded by: BMDV | The InnoFuels project looks at the multitude of research and development projects, each with specific aspects regarding the production, application, evaluation and framework conditions of electricity-based fuels and advanced biofuels. The InnoFuels platform brings together all of these topics in a network of industry, application and research. InnoFuels fulfils the highly interdisciplinary nature of this task through cooperative work in seven subject-specific innovation focus areas, which work together in teams with experts from science, industry and politics to develop solutions for the focus areas. ![]() International cooperation for sustainable aviation biofuels Duration: Funded by: Horizon Europe | The ICARUS project is dedicated to three sustainable aviation fuels (SAF): biofuel from hydrothermal liquefaction, isobutanol from lignocellulosic biomass and synthetic Fischer-Tropsch from biomass gasification. ICARUS aims to improve these with innovative solutions, taking into account the entire value chain. To this end, techno-economic, ecological and social assessments are carried out. In addition, guidelines, best practices and improved concepts are used to disseminate the results worldwide through targeted and effective communication measures.
