Work Package 1 – Peatland Restoration and Landscape Development

In Work Package 1, all measures related to raising water levels on drained peatlands and the climate-oriented optimization of existing peatlands are brought together. The goal is to restore peatlands over the long term and establish their sustainable use.

Coordination is led by the City of Malchin through a dedicated peatland manager. Scientific support is provided by the University of Greifswald, while the“Obere Peene” Water and Soil Association contributes its expertise in water management. Landowners and regional stakeholders are continuously involved through dialogue and participatory formats.
