Project goals

The main objectives in the PaplGas-projects are:

• Development of a technical process for the stable and high-yield anaerobic digestion of poplar wood fibers to biogas
• Identification of the core microbiome through analysis of the microbial community
• Development and testing of crop cultivation utilisation concepts for the fiber-rich digestate fraction as peat substitute
• Development of a heat supply concept for an urban residential quarter
• the economic and ecological assessment (GHG balance) of the overall process
