1. Dezember 2017 | Webinar: The Hotspots of the Global Wood Pellet Industry and Trade 2017

IEA Bioenergy invites you to participate in an international webinar entitled, The Hotspots of the Global Wood Pellet Industry and Trade 2017; presented by Daniela Thrän, Kay Schaubach, Fabian Schipfer, Martin Junginger, and Michael Wild.

This webinar will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 9:30 am Eastern Time / 3:30 pm Central European Time / 2:30 pm Greenwich Mean Time.

The webinar will highlight the main findings of the IEA Bioenergy Global Wood Pellet Industry and Trade Study 2017, focusing on the hotspots North America, Europe and Asia. The global wood pellet market has increased dramatically since 2011, with an average increase rate of 14% per year. New countries have entered the market for both, pellet production (such as those from South-East Europe) and pellet consumption (such as East Asia). Also, the global wood pellet trade increased. More than one third of the overall consumed pellet amount of 26 Mt in 2015 has been intercontinentally traded, mainly from the Americas to Europe and Asia. Increasing demands are expected for both - industrial application in large scale power plants and small scale application in residential heating systems. Further market development depends on improvement of product qualities (torrefaction), market information (contracts/indices) and the regulatory frame conditions, especially the international effort to mitigate climate change and the sustainability requirements for the feedstock.
